The Great Wildebeest Migration (Days 1-7):

  • Days 1-2: Arrive in Nairobi and take a connecting flight to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Settle into your lodge/tented camp strategically located for prime viewing of the migration.
  • Days 3-6: Embark on exciting morning and afternoon game drives in the Maasai Mara. Witness the awe-inspiring wildebeest migration (ideally July-October). Witness this spectacle unfold as millions of wildebeest thunder across the plains, joined by zebras and gazelles in their annual search for greener pastures. Look out for predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs on the hunt.
  • Day 7: Consider an optional activity – a hot air balloon safari over the Mara plains for a breathtaking aerial view of the migration and the vast savanna landscape. In the afternoon, enjoy a final game drive before departing for Lake Nakuru.

Wildlife Viewing at Lake Nakuru (Days 8-9):

  • Day 8: Travel from the Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park, a beautiful soda lake known for its large flocks of pink flamingos.
  • Day 9: Spend the day exploring the park on game drives. Look out for flamingos painting the shores pink, alongside rhinos, lions, leopards, and a variety of birdlife. You might also visit a rhino sanctuary dedicated to protecting these endangered animals.

Coastal Relaxation in Mombasa (Days 10-13):

  • Day 10: Depart from Lake Nakuru and head to Mombasa, Kenya’s vibrant coastal city.
  • Days 11-12: Relax on the pristine beaches of Mombasa. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling on coral reefs, or indulging in water sports. Explore the historic Old Town with its narrow streets, colorful markets, and Portuguese architecture. Sample delicious Swahili cuisine and immerse yourself in the coastal culture.
  • Day 13: Consider an optional day trip:
    • Explore Mombasa Marine National Park, a protected area known for its stunning coral reefs and diverse marine life. Enjoy snorkeling or diving amidst colorful fish and vibrant coral formations.
    • Visit Haller Park, a wildlife sanctuary established by conservationist Rene Haller. See a variety of animals like giraffes, zebras, and antelopes roaming freely in a restored ecosystem.

Departure from Nairobi (Day 14):

  • Day 14: Travel back to Nairobi from Mombasa. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some time for souvenir shopping at the Maasai Market or a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum. Enjoy a final Kenyan meal before departing for your homebound flight.
